Purpose
The Senior Manager Governance & Business Initiatives is responsible for managing de development, implementation and coordination of strategic business initiatives, projects and communications which includes change management strategies and tactical plans to lead the governance, communications and people/culture initiatives within IWM.
Accountabilities also include but are not limited to building and sustaining strong working relationships with IWM teams in the countries to ensure coordination of the governance structure.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Manage key business initiatives and projects and act as a IWM representative as required:
- Lead and manage ad hoc projects and initiatives, as required, by the business to ensure alignment with the strategic focus and project plans.
- Work closely with Senior Management to establish / align the scope and objectives of the imitative / project
- Identify resource requirements, establish timelines, and ensure overall management of all internal and external stakeholders
- Facilitate the effective communication of the initiative and ensure alignment across IWM
- Lead all people/culture initiatives within IWM and is the representative for recognition and Employee campaigns.
- As required, represent the Director, Business Initiatives in meetings and liaising with stakeholders in Global Wealth Management, IWM and International Banking;
- Support strategic projects through governance.
Support IWM strategic initiatives through effective communications by:
- Develops and maintain communication with countries and Head Office
- Channels day-to-day country information requests to ensure alignment among Wealth businesses and spot and develop communications opportunities
- Design and execute upward governance communication through the IWM monthly report and CEO update
- Working closely with IWM business partners to develop high-quality communications that support the strategic direction of the business and effectively promote and motivate employees.
Manage all aspects and coordination of IWM governance initiatives by:
- Plan and coordinate standing governance meetings and ensure agendas and presentations for meetings are distributed in a timely manner.
- Supports the coordination, agenda, reporting, dashboards, and material preparation for the International Wealth Management executive committees.
- Contributes to the efficient and effective management of the IWM governance structure and BAU.
- Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills to enable you to be successful in this role? We would love to work with you if you have:
- A completed undergraduate degree in business/engineering is strongly preferred. Postgraduate studies in Business / Marketing /Communication / Economics are an asset.
- Due to the collaborative nature of the role, the Senior Manager must possess superior team-working abilities.
- Effective communication skills with ability to prepare project plans, documentation, and presentations
- Strategic thinking and stakeholder and project management skills
- Wealth management, and Financial Services experience is also preferred
- The incumbent must demonstrate analytical skills to analyze a broad range of statistics, reports and information. The incumbent will be able to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on the information
- Passionate about customer advocacy and a customer-first mindset
- Experience leading and organizing events
