JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Assistant VP - Medical Affairs, the Medical Director plays a regional role in the management of the primary health care client program. In collaboration with the primary health care director, the incumbent participates in planning and setting program goals and objectives.
The Medical Director is responsible for managing human, material and financial resources within their areas of assignment. The role will also involve providing medical expertise in the management of the program within the Vitalité Health Network and working to develop and harmonize regional practices within Medical Affairs. The successful candidate also promotes the program and provides analysis to the various communities within the Network's territory. Is called upon to work with internal and external partners, including Horizon Health Network, the Department of Health, Regional Services Commissions, the New Brunswick Medical Society and others.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Medical training and member in good standing of a medical society or college;
- Minimum of three years' management experience;
- Training/experience in administration or management;
- Any other combination of relevant training or experience may be taken into consideration;
- Excellent knowledge of the health sector in the province;
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities along with the stress associated with setting priorities and meeting deadlines;
- Ability to analyse issues and data with long-term repercussions on the hospital and the Network as a whole;
- Ability to set priorities and meet objectives;
- Ability to build and maintain good interpersonal relations through diplomacy and respect for others;
- Persuasion and negotiation skills, appreciation of diversity, and consensus-building skills;
- Demonstrated personal qualities: independence, positive attitude, flexibility and loyalty;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Physical ability to perform assigned work;
- Good work history (performance and attendance);
- Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network's management philosophy and organizational values;
- Adherence to Vitalité Health Network's confidentiality rules.
