Responsibilities

What you will be doing…

Reporting to the Dean, School of Technology and Environment, you will guide The Centre of Forest Innovation's strategic direction, manage the day-to-day business operations, and oversee the realization of its business goals, including a variety of training offerings and applied research work. You will liaise regularly with industry partners, associations, and other experts about industry trends and needs and ensure the Centre maintains a growing suite of relevant and timely resources and expertise in the region.

In collaboration with NSCC's Workforce Development, Applied Research, School of Technology and Environment and Truro Campus, this position plays a key role in the Centre's business development. Together these partners will identify business opportunities, training, sector outreach and research contracts ensuring their effective management. This collaborative approach will support the growth of strategic partnerships, strengthen industry connections and contribute to the Centre's long-term success.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is an undergraduate degree in forestry/natural resources/earth sciences. An MBA would be considered an asset.
  • You possess a minimum of seven years of recent and relevant experience in forestry-related programs, which includes a leadership role overseeing staff and operations.
  • Occupational experience that includes demonstrated leadership in project development, management and execution.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience
  • You have experience in training/facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation
