Job Description:

Gather and translate business data extraction and consumption requirements into technical specifications. Ensure proper data ingestion, curation, and consumption.
Clarify solution designs that support business strategies and analytical initiatives, especially when requirements are unclear.


Document, prototype and validate current and future state data flow processes. Provide subject matter expertise by identifying relevant business processes affecting data curation and explaining their impact on data.

CUSTOMER

  • Develop and promote data models using industry standard modeling tools
  • Assess business requirements by researching / analyzing and documenting business data requirements
  • Define, build and manage data dictionary / catalog for respective data platforms, systems / servers /applications
  • Ensure metadata and data lineage is captured and compatible with enterprise metadata and data management tools and processes
  • Run quality assurance reports and resolve data integrity issues to ensure accurate reporting and data records
  • Gather, review, analyze, profile, validate, and map system data into the prototyping solution for further integration within data warehouse. Ensure reporting and analytical business needs are met
  • Develop solutions and recommendations for improving data quality and data integrity issues.
  • Analyze data issues and work with development teams to resolve issues
  • Understand data initiatives and capabilities, data governance principles and how they apply to the business segment
  • Ensure business data and information is retained and disposed in compliance with enterprise data standards, policies and guidelines
  • Contribute to various data activities and processes as assigned
  • Be knowledgeable of practices and procedures within own area of responsibility and keep updated on emerging trends for own functional area
  • Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk activities as necessary
  • Participate in and help implement continuous process / improvements
  • Identify, recommend and effectively execute standard practices applicable to the discipline
  • Adhere to internal policies/procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines
  • Keep updated on emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts; Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite

SHAREHOLDER

  • Collaborate with technology and business teams to ensure alignment and successful delivery of data solutions.
  • Facilitate data analysis and investigations for business users and QA teams, assisting with data issues and validating business cases during development and testing phases
  • Provide support on business impact post-implementation, ensuring the data solution meets the intended business outcomes during the warranty period.
  • Coordinate business requirements with technical teams with a goal of ensuring smooth integration of data into source code repositories and promoting effective source code management practices.
  • Be an active participant of business and technical design reviews, ensuring that data architectures meet both operational and business objectives.
  • Raise and manage change requests in collaboration with business stakeholders, supporting release management processes and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Understand data governance and data management initiatives to ensure business requirements align with enterprise data governance policies.
  • Ensure business metadata and data lineage are well-documented and integrated with enterprise metadata management tools, facilitating better business understanding.
  • Adhere to best practices for data security, ensuring both technical and business aspects are protected from common vulnerabilities.
  • Document business requirements and technical decisions, ensuring risks, lessons learned, and enhancement opportunities are communicated across teams.
  • Help safeguarding the organization's interests by identifying business risks, while ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Stay current on industry trends, growing knowledge of business processes, data tools, and best practices to improve collaboration between business and technology teams.
  • Adhere to internal policies/procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines

BREADTH & DEPTH:

  • Experienced working professional role providing specialized business support, within their own area of specialty
  • Requires experienced, conceptual and practical knowledge within their own specialty
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and fluent in at least one programming language
  • Lead projects or work streams within broader projects with moderate risk and may be accountable for managing ongoing activities processes and functional programs
  • Accountable for own work and sometimes others; acts as an escalation point or knowledge resource for others in their own area
  • Experience working with very large datasets and familiarity with big data technologies
  • Able to work with minimal direction on multiple projects and priorities
  • Keep abreast of rapid business and technology innovation within business information management field
  • Familiar with visualization tools
  • Generally reports to a Senior / Manager role

EXPERIENCE AND / OR EDUCATION

  • Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate and/or
  • 2+ years of relevant experience from a business administration, statistical, mathematical, scientific or financial background
  • Experience in Insurance domain preferred
  • BAT (business acceptance testing) is preferred
