Protection & Control Technologist

Location: St. John's

You will install, test, perform maintenance and modifications on all protective relaying, metering, instrumentation and control equipment associated with the provincial power grid, distribution systems and all generating systems, including electrical/electronic governors, excitation equipment, PLC's, etc. You will be involved in the commissioning of major system components and troubleshooting and the testing of system components and protection and control schemes and prepare drawings, material lists and cost estimates for new and modified installations. You will prepare, maintain and update system and equipment drawings and retain records as well as all other duties related to or associated with this classification.

You are responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers by observing and promoting the company's Safety and Health Program and for environmental aspects of the job and performing work in an environmentally responsible manner.

You have graduated high school and have successfully completed a two or three year electrical or electronic technology course from a recognized technical institute and have completed the four-year training program established by Corporation or have four years experience as a technician in the discipline. You have a thorough knowledge of all regulations and safety rules and possess an appropriate valid driver's license.
