Job Summary
NL Health Services Urban Zone is inviting applications for an Addiction Medicine Physician to join the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre on Substance Use (NLCSU). In addition to the leadership role with the NLCSU, the physician will provide clinical care and teach medical learners as part of the Mental Health and Addictions Community Division in the eastern urban zone.
This is an exciting opportunity for a physician leader to contribute to the transformation and advancement of addiction treatment and harm reduction throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. The role also involves providing consultation and support to healthcare providers in primary care, inpatient, and emergency services to enhance the treatment of substance use disorders.
The Addiction Medicine Physician will play a pivotal role in patient care, advocacy, system and practice development, workforce education, and overall capacity building in the treatment of substance use disorders and harm reduction. Candidates must demonstrate relevant experience, ongoing professional development, and a strong interest in opioid agonist treatment and addiction medicine.
Required Qualifications
- Certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Addictions Medicine and/or a Fellowship in Addictions Medicine by CCFP or equivalent experience.
- All applicants must be eligible for licensure to practice by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of NL.
- Satisfy credentialing requirements of Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
Remuneration: Salary and benefits for this position are to be paid in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement for salaried physicians in Newfoundland and Labrador. Starting salary will be based on years of clinical experience.
