Demands, duties, qualifications Qualifications:

• To qualify applicants must demonstrate a strong knowledge of the inpatient Nurse Practitioner role and inpatient/hospital setting. Applicants are required to be a Nurse Practitioner with current experience in acute care, emergency, and inpatient settings.
• Completion of an approved/recognized Nurse Practitioner program is required.
• Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner (Family/All Ages) with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL) is required.
• A minimum of 2-3 years clinical nursing experience.
• Current BCLS Certification is required.
• Completion of Western Health Cardiac Care course (or equivalent) is preferred, however, can be completed within the first year.
• Ability to interpret Arterial blood gases and EKGs.
• Experience in critical care and acute emergency settings considered an asset.
• Certification in ACLS is preferred, however, can be completed within the first year.
• Possess strong abilities in the areas of collaboration, clinical reasoning, professional development, interpersonal effectiveness, conflict management and teamwork.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships is essential.
• Demonstrate progressive clinical leadership skills and strong knowledge of inpatient clinical
• setting and current models of care.
• Possess strong communication, problem solving, decision-making, and teaching skills.
• Demonstrated ability to function autonomously in an advanced practice role.
• Support and participate in research to improve practice and client outcomes.
• Demonstrated skills in computer and database management skills including knowledge of eforms, patient order sets, and current medical directives.
