What you will do
Reporting to the Director of Visitor Experience, the Visitor Programming Manager is a key leadership role within Kings Landing, responsible for developing and overseeing engaging, high-quality programming and events that enhance the visitor experience. This position ensures that all programming aligns with Kings Landing's mission, vision, and strategic objectives and is vital to ensuring that Kings Landing continues to provide exceptional, educational, and immersive visitor experiences. The Visitor Programming Manager will play a key part in shaping the future of Kings Landing's interpretive and educational offerings. Some responsibilities include:
- Supervise a small team of 5-6 staff by creating work plans and schedules, providing leadership and coaching, developing training and development opportunities, managing performance and encouraging teamwork
- Oversee the creation, delivery and evaluation of historical interpretation, educational programmes, special events and seasonal activities, ensuring they are historically accurate, engaging and in line with Kings Landing's educational objectives and interpretive themes
- Collaborate with other teams to create unique and integrated experiences, including restaurant and retail opportunities
- Monitor and evaluate visitor satisfaction to ensure programs meet expectations
- Monitor and manage budgets for programming initiatives, ensuring services are delivered in a cost-effective manner, and provide explanations for variances between expenditure and receipts where appropriate
- Prepare detailed reports on programming performance, visitor engagement and related activities for management
- Participate in the recruitment, integration and retention of programming staff, with a focus on seasonal team members
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of Kings Landing
Work Environment
- Location: Kings Landing, Prince William, N.B.
- Hours of work: Some evenings, weekends and flexible hours required
- Some travel may also be necessary

You'll use creativity, attention to detail and strong organizational skills to create value-added programs and events to help Kings Landing grow its visitor numbers. Your management skills, community spirit and strategic planning will help enhance visitor and employee relations.
Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Need to have
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality and Tourism or related field
- At least five (5) years experience in program development or visitor engagement
- Two (2) years experience in a leadership or management role
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including presentation software
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
- Written and spoken competence in English is required
Nice to have
- Experience of leading teams in the hotel or tourism sector, or in teaching or tourism
- Knowledge of living history interpretation or museum programming
- Knowledge of current and emerging trends in the development and implementation of educational and recreational activities in a tourism context
- Experience in budget preparation and financial management
- Knowledge of New Brunswick heritage, including Aboriginal heritage
- Experience in product development to enhance the visitor offerings
Wage
$56,758.00 to $79,378.00 annually (Pay Band 4)
