Job Description:
The TD Analytics for Insurance team has the mandate to provide business intelligence using advanced analytical techniques such as machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) models. This group is responsible for doing in-depth analysis to better understand claim payments, client or advisor behaviours, product design and a lot more. This group is also responsible to develop, maintain and calibrate all models used within TD Insurance, including but not limited to loss cost models and customer behaviour models.
Within this team, the Underwriting Analytics function is a multidisciplinary team that is dedicated to develop and maintain underwriting rules and guidelines. The team is composed of Actuarial Analysts and Data Scientist whose primary task is to gather and analyses data to develop schemes and predictive models that will refine TDI's risk appetite. Collaboration with Underwriting Specialists is also essential; their main role to determine underwriting rules that will respect the government's regulatory guidelines, while being clear and easy to apply for advisors.
Main tasks of the Actuarial Analyst II, Underwriting Analytics:
• Using state-of-the-art predictive modelling techniques to refine segmentation models and underwriting rules for the general insurance automobile and residential products for the TD Insurance Canadian market
• Pushing forward the knowledge of the client's expected risk and profitability to the business by leveraging insight and making data-driven decisions
• Execution and presentation of numerous underwriting analyses aiming to support growth and profitability objectives of TD Insurance
• Development and maintenance of tools to monitor the evolution of our portfolio
• Collaboration with numerous departments within the organization (Underwriting, Product, Pricing, Risk Management, Client Service Center, etc.)
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor's or master's degree in Actuarial Studies, Mathematics or Statistics
• Minimum of 3 professional exams of the Casualty Actuarial Society
• Minimum of 3 years of actuarial experience in P&C
• Analytical mind and ability to make sound decisions
• Good organizational and time management skills
• Highly adaptable to changing situations
• Computer skills (SQL, R, Python, VBA, etc.) and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Effective written and oral communication skills in English and French (an asset)
