Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Supervisor

Our client is looking for a Shipping and Receiving Supervisor, this will be a hands-on role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shipping and receiving department. Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, this position involves supervising and coordinating the efficient receipt, storage, and distribution of goods, while ensuring proper inventory management. The supervisor ensures that all shipments are processed accurately and in a timely manner, adhering to company standards and safety regulations.
Key responsibilities include managing a small team, overseeing order fulfillment, maintaining inventory accuracy, conducting regular inspections, and ensuring compliance with shipping and safety regulations. The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor also collaborates with other departments such as procurement, customer service, production, and warehouse management to streamline operations and resolve any shipping or receiving issues.
This position requires strong leadership and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle logistical challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
* Oversee and prepare incoming and outgoing shipping activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and the high quality of shipments.
* Coordinate with the Warehouse Manager, Project Manager, and QA to meet project and production objectives.
* Plan, schedule, and assign work to ensure tasks are completed effectively and on time, meeting delivery timelines promised to clients.
* Create and reconcile all receiving and delivery transactions in the appropriate systems and generate all required documents associated with each shipment.
* Ensure compliance with SOPs, regulatory programs, and customer quality agreements regarding documentation, procedures, scale calibration/verification, shipping tests, tracking, etc.
* Supervise, train, and motivate warehouse staff, fostering a high-performing, positive, and safety-focused work environment.
* Conduct performance appraisals, recommend development goals, and implement disciplinary actions when necessary.
* Identify cost-effective and timely transportation solutions for goods.
* Collaborate with other department leaders to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
* Promote a positive work culture by embodying and teaching the company's core values.
* Prepare and hand off complete and appropriate documentation (bills of lading, invoices, etc.) to all parties, including drivers.
* Complete daily and weekly logistical tasks, participate in relevant meetings, and update customers and shipping companies as needed.
* Maintain accurate inventory records for consumables and components in the facility.
* Ensure a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols, SOPs, and QA standards.
* Record and maintain GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) records for activities.
* Implement corrective actions and process improvements when necessary.
* Find effective staffing solutions to meet forecasts, client needs, and profitability goals. Partner with HR for recruitment when necessary, leading interviews and making hiring recommendations.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Manager.
Requirements
* Minimum high school diploma or GED.
* At least 3 years of experience leading a team in a Shipping & Receiving environment.
* Experience in handling, receiving, storing, and shipping materials, orders, or supplies.
* Relevant GMP knowledge or training.
* Willingness to be trained on the operation of power and hand tools.
* Valid driver's license and Material Handling Equipment Licenses (forklift, Reach Truck, Counterbalance, walkie).
* Self-directed, with a strong work ethic, positive disposition, and a "can-do" attitude—focused on solutions and capitalizing on opportunities.

* Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft applications (knowledge of SAP, Nulogy/Pack Manager is an asset).
