STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING
The Strategic Communications & Marketing (SCM) Office is responsible for directing all corporate communications through storytelling, media relations, marketing, branding, creative and digital media strategies across the university. The Strategic Communications & Marketing Office fits within the President's Office and reports to the President. The office oversees strategic communications and marketing policies, procedures, strategies and plans that advance the university's vision, mission and reputation. Members of the office work in close collaboration with other university units across both campuses to implement strategies, develop performance standards and monitor effectiveness of the strategies.

Salary Range: $58,098 - $79,182 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Institutional Communications Manager, SCM, the Integrated Communications Specialist plans and coordinates university projects, events, announcements, initiatives, and other strategic activities. This position facilitates the delivery of high-quality outputs and manages the project lifecycle of multiple institutional communications projects, keeping tactics on track. This role also provides planning and strategy support and helps elevate their colleagues' work by upholding departmental and brand standards.

  • Research and understand the communications needs of UNB internal partners.
  • Develop and implement communications briefs and activation plans that address intended audiences, boost engagement and drive a strategic narrative.
  • Employ structured planning and implementation to ensure that communications projects are efficient, effective and cohesive.
  • Keep projects on track and adjust and communicate changes to ensure SCM team members and institutional partners are aligned and prepared to pivot as necessary.
  • Act as a communications liaison between institutional units and SCM, giving partners a single point of contact for select projects.
  • Work with external partners (printers, contractors) to ensure delivery is brand aligned and timely.
  • Work closely with digital content colleagues on digital and social media initiatives.
  • Work closely with writer/editor colleagues on written and editorial initiatives.
  • Work with graphic design and video production team to create multimedia assets.
  • Work closely with media relations and executive communications team on external relations initiatives.
  • Stay informed of marketing and communications industry developments to foster ideas and innovation.
  • Research and recommend new ideas and approaches to communication strategies and tactics.
  • Provide regular status updates to the Manager.
  • Supports the Manager of Institutional Communications with additional deliverables as needed.
  • Other duties as required.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Post-secondary education focusing on marketing, communications, public relations, or other related fields.
  • 3-5 years of proven ability to develop, implement, execute and measure strategic communications plans and/or campaigns or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong customer service orientation and the ability to work effectively on cross-functional and virtual teams.
