The Department of Health is seeking an individual to join the Acute Care Branch as a Health Care Clinical Consultant ¿ Laboratory Medicine, in Fredericton.

Reporting to the Director of Professional Services, the successful candidate will be a member of a multidisciplinary team working in a challenging, fast-paced work environment.

As the Health Care Consultant for Laboratory medicine, you will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring, planning, and funding of laboratory services delivered by the Regional Health Authorities (RHAs);
  • Overseeing quality assurance of laboratory testing;
  • Providing guidance to the RHAs on the organization and administration of laboratory services, working in collaboration to ensure services are optimized;
  • Coordinating laboratory service distribution across the province, facilitating stakeholder meetings, participating in provincial and national discussions, and advising the government on laboratory policies and best practices.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in laboratory science or an advanced certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science with six (6) years of related experience in the area of laboratory science and operation and management of clinical laboratories.
  • Must be an active member of the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science as well as licensed with the New Brunswick Society of Medical Laboratory Technologists
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability on your application.

In the event that this competition poses difficulties in recruiting a qualified candidate, a covering off appointment at a lower level may be made. In that case, candidates with less than the required related years of experience may also be considered.

Asset Qualifications: Preference may be given to candidates who possess one or more of the following asset qualifications:

  • Project Management or Program Development
  • Knowledge of the healthcare system in New Brunswick

Candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications, in order to be given further consideration.

Salary: $75,478 to $100,412 per annum (Pay Band 6)
