The Department of Health is seeking an individual to join the Public Health Branch as a Senior Program Advisor.
As the Senior Program Advisor you will:
- Research, develop, plan, monitor, and evaluate Public Health programs, policies, and legislative frameworks;
- Provide consultative expertise to support the team, leadership, and partners with health policy, promotion, prevention, and protection initiatives, using a population health framework;
- Engage in subject matter areas of environmental health, and related topics;
- Support the review and development of public health legislation, policies, and programs;
- Track, analyze, and compile national policy and legislative trends;
- Be accountable for stakeholder engagement and relationship management;
- Undertakes the knowledge of translation initiatives;
- Develop and present briefing materials for senior leadership;
- Develop communications, key messages, and briefing notes;
- Represent Public Health on provincial and national committees.

Essential Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Health, Public Administration, , or another related field.
- A minimum of five (5) years of policy, legislation, and/or enforcement experience in areas impacting health and well-being, which must include a minimum of 2 year of experience in environmental health.
- OR a Bachelor's degree in a Health Science, Environmental Health, Health, Public Administration, Law, or another related field ;
- A minimum of seven (7) years of policy, legislation, and/or enforcement experience in areas impacting health and well-being, which must include a minimum of 2 years of experience in environmental health.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability on your application.

In the event that this competition poses difficulties in recruiting a qualified candidate, a covering off appointment at a lower level may be made. In that case, candidates with less than the required related years of experience may also be considered.
Asset Qualifications: Preference may be given to candidates that possess one or more of the following asset qualifications:
- Proficiency in the Core Competencies for Public Health
- Knowledge of the Public Health Act and other Public Health legislation
- Experience working with health equity and determinants of health
- Are a Certified Public Health Inspector (CPHI)
Candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications, in order to be given further consideration.

Salary: $75,478 to $100,412 per annum (Pay Band 6)
