Role Description
Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Structural Engineer or Senior Structural Technologist will work collaboratively with other design and construction professionals on challenging and exciting structural engineering projects. As a critical member of CBCL's Sydney team, you will be encouraged to take a leading role in all stages of the design process, and to deliver exceptional results for CBCL clients.
Responsibilities include:
- Project Management, including financial management, resource management, change order management, and invoicing;
- Business Development in the province of Nova Scotia;
- Structural Design calculations and analysis;
- Coordination of design support staff;
- Provide mentoring and technical support to junior staff members;
- Preparation of technical specification and construction documents;
- Construction contract administration;
- Periodic site work including meetings, field reviews and measurements;
- Meet and liaise with clients.
Qualifications
As the ideal candidate, you have experience on a wide variety of building types, including but not limited to institutional, educational, apartment/condominium, and industrial buildings. You are an accomplished project manager with demonstrated experience fostering strong relationships with clients, consultants and contractors.
Your qualifications include:
- University Degree in Civil Engineering specializing in Structural Engineering;
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada with eligibility for registration or registered with Engineers NS;
- A Senior Structural Technologist with equivalent experience may also be considered;
- 7+ years of experience in structural design and construction administration;
- Familiarity with Revit and AutoCAD;
- Detail oriented, organized, hardworking, with a team player attitude;
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; and
- Valid driver's license and be able to travel to job sites within Atlantic Canada.
