Requirements:
- High School diploma required.
- NB Class three (3) driver's license with E endorsement (air brakes) would be considered an asset.
- ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) Certified Arborist considered an asset
- Three (3) years of experience in urban forestry or arboriculture related work.
- Use industry recognized pruning and tree removal practices.
- Experience with municipal operations.
- Ability to work after hours, function as an on-call employee, and work shift work if required.
Join our team as a Permanent Labourer - Arborist with our Parks & Trees Department in Fredericton!
As an arborist with the City of Fredericton, you will be a vital member of the Parks and Trees Division, contributing to the health and beauty of Fredericton's Urban Forest including street trees, parks, open spaces. This position requires a combination of aerial work including climbing and bucket truck operation. You will be a vital member of a crew, performing daily work varying between structural pruning and care of trees in streets around utilities, parks and greenspaces, removal of mature trees in a street setting to other various equipment operation depending on the season.
What You'll Do:
- Tree care, maintenance, and removal in an urban setting around buildings, utility lines, traffic and the public.
- Responsible for the care and maintenance of equipment used to perform required duties.
- Working knowledge in proper pruning and tree removal techniques as set by International Society of Arboriculture (ISA).
- Position duties require heavy physical exertion.
- Ability to work in a team environment or individually, as required.
- Knowledge of the use and maintenance of equipment which may include aerial lifts, brush chippers, stump grinders, chain saws, brush saws, farm tractors.
- Required to work in all weather conditions.
- Responding to after hours emergency work.
- Responding seasonally to after hours snow and ice control.
