CLINIC ADMINISTRATOR (BAND LEVEL 8) Discipline of Family Medicine

(Full-Time, Permanent Position)
DUTIES
Reporting to the Manager of Operations, Discipline of Family Medicine, and working directly with the Clinical Director and Clinic Team Leads, the successful applicant will provide administrative direction and operational management to the Discipline of Family Medicine's academic family medicine clinics in St. John's. This includes sites located at the Health Sciences Centre, Ross Family Medicine Clinic in the Miller Centre, and the Shea Heights Community Health Centre. Duties include planning, coordinating and supervising administrative activities for the three academic teaching clinics; providing management and direction to 14 administrative, nursing, and technical staff to help ensure an efficient, effective, and patient-centered teaching environment; recruitment and supervision of staff; coordinating human resources activities, set-up and orientation for learners, residents, staff and physicians; developing resident clinic schedules; developing various on-call schedules; sourcing clinical locums for leaves and sabbaticals; overseeing MCP and locum payments, and other billings as needed; developing budget requests; monitoring and maintaining records of budget accounts; coordinating purchasing; coordinating special activities/programs; preparing fiscal, statistical and project reports; supporting and troubleshooting problems with the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, together with the EMR Specialist; developing, recommending, and implementing new systems, including quality improvement initiatives, policies, and procedures; serving as a member of various committees; maintaining considerable contact with officials within the Faculty of Medicine, the university, and Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services (NLHS) regarding clinical and administrative activities; advising on a variety of management issues and recommending appropriate courses of action; and performing other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (3-5 years) in progressively responsible administrative work; graduation with a degree from a four- year college or university program with major course work in business, public administration, or organizational management; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Strong skills in supervisory management, problem solving, and analytical thinking are essential, as is experience with the Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of Banner Finance and familiarity with Memorial University's policies and procedures are considered assets. Experience working in a healthcare/clinic environment as well as exposure to the Provincial Electronic Medical Records system and Med Access are considered assets. The Clinic Administrator is responsible for their own required travel between clinics.
SALARY $63,099 - $86,042 per annum (Management and Professional)
