Salary Range: $55,989 - $72,785 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Director, the Strategic Partnership & Economic Development Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining research and development partnerships as well as business networking with companies in Canada and internationally. This role also oversees the delivery of industry training and consulting contracts.

  • Establish and maintain relationship with senior officials from universities, industry, and government (domestic and international).
  • Develop and implement an economic development framework for CIC that includes business attraction in public and private sectors, and recruitments, retention and expansion strategies.
  • Maintain current economic development information from regional, provincial, national and international sources and respond to information requests from the general public, business and industry community.
  • Develop a recruitment strategy to diversify and increase under-represented group members.
  • Develop strategies to seek regular inputs from key clients with respect to the quality of programs and services.
  • Carry out established policies, recommending changes and drafting new policies as directed.
  • Negotiate financial budgets related to corporate services training and consulting contracts.
  • Assist in recruiting and hiring contract staff related to the delivery of contracts for corporate events.
  • Supervise part-time and contract-based business development officers.
  • Attends meetings and conferences and assists with industry and government projects such as trade shows, public presentations and displays.
  • Provides leadership, guidance and administrative support to local business development organizations as directed by the Director of CIC.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in related field.
  • 5 years of experience in private sector business or economic development-related positions (preferably in an educational/training or consulting environment.
  • A demonstrated ability to deal with senior technical professionals in business and industry.

  • Ability to identify regional and national economic development opportunities.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to inspire confidence and trust with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong oral and written communication in a digital environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in negotiating and writing proposals.
  • Ability to comprehend, apply, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate information and resources from variety of perspectives/sources.
  • Strong technical proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite.
  • International experience along with knowledge of foreign cultures and languages is highly desirable.
  • Experience in post-secondary environment in Canada and/or abroad is an asset.
