Definition of work:
This position is accountable for the coordination, support and day-to-day management of the operating room and ambulatory departments at the James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre (JPMRHC). The successful candidate will provide leadership in advancing nursing knowledge and professional practice to ensure evidence based, individual care of patients and families, and for directing and developing nursing practice within the program. The manager will work in collaboration with physician colleagues and other program managers to ensure continuity and coordination across program areas and operations of the organization. Responsibilities will include managing human resources; program development and evaluation; implementing and maintaining best practices; fiscal and risk management; patient safety and quality improvement. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
Required qualifications:
• An undergraduate degree in nursing.
• Current registration with College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador.
• Experience in management as well as extensive knowledge of operating room (ORNAC) standards.
• Demonstrated commitment to person and family centered care.
• The ability to work with an interprofessional team and to lead an interprofessional team to achieve quality of care and patient safety.
• The ability to manage change and to foster an environment which promotes personal accountability.
• Leadership ability, strong interpersonal, communication and human relation skills.
