Demands, duties, qualifications Reporting to the Environmental Services Supervisor, the environmental Services workers maintain a clean, safe, and functional environment for patients, families, staff, and visitors. The Environmental Services Worker ensures that the principles and practices that guide our work such as the mission, vision, values, and expected behaviours are integrated within the services they provide and through the messages they deliver.

The Environmental Services Worker is responsible for cleaning all units as assigned, including patient rooms and public areas. This includes but is not limited to:
- Cleaning interior of facilities and buildings (i.e. mopping, sweeping, polishing and vacuuming of floors; windows, walls, ceilings, stairwells, handrails, door knobs, etc).
- Cleans and disinfects property such as patient/resident rooms, washrooms, operating rooms, clinical/public areas, classrooms, cafeterias, offices, locker rooms including furniture and equipment such as desks, hospital beds, dialysis machines, appliances, etc as well as other miscellaneous cleaning to ensure infection control.
- Operating equipment such as automatic floor scrubbers and trash compactors.
- Replenishes various washroom supplies such as paper towels, soap, and hand sanitizer. Changes Sharps containers, when required.
- Collects and disposes of garbage, biomedical waste and recyclable materials.
- Performs other housekeeping tasks such as making beds, dusting, and cleaning of supplies.

Job Demands:
By applying for this job, you acknowledge an understanding that regular requirements and demands of this job include (but are not limited to):
- Constantly lifts and moves objects up to 10-20lbs and regularly pushes/pulls supplies and trolleys up to 50lbs.
- Regularly requires repetitive neck flexion, reaching, bilateral handling, body movements such as bending, kneeling, stretching.
- Constantly requires standing and walking.
- Constantly requires visual and auditory concentration and repetitive tasks, higher than normal levels of attentiveness and alertness for the health and safety of others.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must demonstrate in their application/resume how they meet the following criteria:
- Completion of High School preferred, equivalent work experience may be considered.
- Housekeeping experience is considered an asset.
- Ability to work as a team.
