The Manager of Regulatory Compliance is responsible to oversee and ensure Halifax Water's compliance with all, federal, provincial and local regulatory requirements through developing, implementing, and managing compliance programs, conducting audits and providing guidance and training to staff related to Halifax Water's environmental regulatory obligations.
- Develop, implement and continuously improve regulatory compliance policies and programs to ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.
- Conduct regular audits, inspections and checks to identify potential compliance issues and determine root cause(s) and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor changes in regulations and update company policies, procedures and training accordingly.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on regulatory compliance requirements and best practices.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies and represent Halifax Water during meetings, inspections and audits.
- Prepare and review required regulatory applications, reports, notifications, documents and statistics submitted to internal and external stakeholders. Maintain accurate records of compliance activities.
- Identify and assess compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate these risks within Halifax Water's Integrated Management System (IMS).
- Investigate and resolve compliance-related incidents and complaints
Education:
· Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science / Management / Engineering, Law, or a related field. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience:
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in the municipal and/or environmental field, preferable in a regulatory compliance capacity with direct supervisory experience. Experience dealing with Regulators and/or working in a regulated environment.
