Purpose


The Senior Manager is responsible for leading the development and execution of key strategic initiatives for Total Wealth Planning and Insurance, working closely with the leadership team and diverse stakeholders across Scotia Wealth Management and the Bank. The Senior Manager oversees the strategic planning process, leads change management, and monitors progress and performance against goals. Through their work, the Senior Manager elevates the advisor and client experience, helping to deepen client relationships and drive business growth. The ideal candidate has a strong background in strategy, as well as excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.


Accountabilities

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end delivery of strategic projects and initiatives, from idea generation to implementation while ensuring alignment with the overall vision, strategy and values of Scotia Wealth Management and the Bank.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders, partners, and stakeholders from various business units to define the scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria of strategic projects and priorities; provide recommendations for improvement and optimization.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, budgets, timelines, and milestones; track and report on the status, progress, and outcomes of strategic plans.
  • Manage and contribute to the design and implementation of key change management initiatives intended to support and engage the overall team while enhancing the delivery of financial planning and insurance across Scotia Wealth Management and the Bank.
  • Responsible for developing and delivering communications plans for team priorities, projects, and programs.
  • Identify risks and challenges of strategic initiatives, change management, and communication plans and propose potential solutions.
  • Facilitate and lead workshops, team offsites, meetings, and presentations including regular leadership team and partner meetings.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends, developments, and best practices in the banking industry, and provide insights and suggestions for strategic growth and transformation in planning and insurance.
  • Help to develop and implement employee engagement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the Bank's culture as follows:
    • Champion a culture of customer focus that strengthens client loyalty and leverages the Bank's wider relationships, systems, and expertise.
    • Cultivate and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
    • Consider the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture in all activities and decisions; understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities.
    • Adhere to Scotiabank's Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles.
    • Ensure effective and efficient operations, while meeting operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk obligations.
    • Promote and demonstrate a high-performance environment and an inclusive work culture.
    • Comply with all regulations, policies, and procedures governing the role's activities.

Education / Experience / Other Information

  • Bachelor's degree. Master's degree or MBA is an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategy, banking, or consulting, with proven track record of leading and delivering complex and high-impact strategic projects and initiatives.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to synthesize and interpret data and information from various sources.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage senior leaders, partners, and diverse stakeholders across the Bank.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the banking industry, its products, services, processes, regulations, and challenges is an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
  • Bilingual in English and French is an asset.
