Wood Science and Technology Centre

The Wood Science and Technology Centre is a self-sustaining applied research and development centre, under the administration of the Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Management, that services the value-added wood products, wood construction, and non-timber forest bio products industries in Atlantic Canada.

WHAT WE OFFER

Full-time | (1-Year) Term | Fredericton | On-Campus

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week

Salary Range: $48,900 - $66,646 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Director of Wood Science and Technology Centre (WSTC), the Research Assistant provides junior level research support at the Wood Science and Technology Centre.

  • Execute research projects: prepare work plans for projects, develop SOPs, conduct projects, collect and analyze the data, ensure overall quality of technical work, and prepare reports.
  • Assist in drafting proposals.
  • Assist in coordinating graduate and undergraduate students' projects.
  • Assist to manage lab facilities, organize research files, prepare information for the Centre's website and other such operational tasks.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • MScFE or equivalent in wood technology is required.
  • Familiarity with research testing and results.
  • Familiarity with wood-related ASTM, CSA, and EN standards.
  • Good knowledge of wood anatomy, wood quality, and wood-based composites.
