JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Biobank Manager at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC, the Biobank Research Coordinator is responsible for the administration and coordination of recruitment activities for the biobank within Vitalité Health Network and in collaboration with the clinicians. This includes all activities related to recruitment, follow-up of participants and maintenance of research projects requiring the collection of samples and/or data under their responsibility. The Coordinator must also be able to facilitate the development of their cohorts, support meetings, and develop presentations promoting the biobank's activities.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in biological/biochemical sciences, nursing, health sciences, social work or a similar discipline;
- Preferably 2 years' experience in health research in an academic setting, medical research institution or hospital setting;
- Experience in research project coordination is an asset;
- Experience in research subject recruitment and data collection is an asset;
- Experience in research protocol review and the Research Ethics Board submission process is an asset;
- IATA (Transport of Dangerous Goods) and WHMIS certifications are an asset;
- Training or experience in social work or involving interaction with the public in a health care context is an advantage;
- Sufficient understanding of medical terminology and concepts is important;
- Experience with computers (MS Office);
- Understanding of the scientific method and clinical research;
- Solid administrative and organizational skills are essential;
- Attention to detail and ability to establish priorities;
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
- Knowledge of relevant regulations for research on humans;
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Good knowledge of the applicable regulations governing research involving humans, the ICH GCP guidelines and the Tri-Council Policy Statement or willingness to take an online training course;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Physical ability to perform assigned work;
- Good work history (performance and attendance);
- Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network's management philosophy, and organizational values;
- Compliance with Vitalité Health Network's confidentiality rules.
