The Department of Justice and Public Safety is seeking an individual to join the Court Services Branch as a Regional Director for the Edmundston and Woodstock regions.
What you will do
Reporting to the Executive Director of Court Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for the high-level operations of the courts within the Edmundston and Woodstock regions. The Regional Director will champion and be accountable for new corporate directives and initiatives from Justice Services within their region. The Regional Director must be a strong people leader and have the demonstrated ability to build relationships which foster effective team collaboration and positive working environments. The Regional Director works in close collaboration with the Judiciary, the Clerk of the Court and Sheriff Services, in addition to other key stakeholders such as Public Prosecution Services, Legal Aid, and the local Bar within the region.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Engaging in strategic operational planning,
  • Organizing, implementing and monitoring progress towards strategic goals and objectives,
  • Managing of Court Services,
  • Developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships,
  • Financial and Human Resource management and support to direct reports,
  • Collaborating with DTI and SNB representatives to ensure the needs of the court are met.

Work environment

  • Office location: 121 Rue de l'Église, Edmundston (main office): Edmundston Law Courts and Woodstock Law Courts
  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30

Need to have

  • Business/Public Administration, Bachelor's Degree in Law or Arts (criminology),
  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience, some of which must be in management/leadership roles,
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience working within a professional organization.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal history clearance and security clearance check.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Technical competencies: The successful candidate will possess the following technical competencies:

  • Human Resources Management
  • Financial Management

Operational requirements

  • Working outside of regular hours on occasion
  • Regular travel between regions
  • Occasional travel throughout the province

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Candidates must demonstrate on their applications how they have acquired the education and experience for this position. Your resumé should be in chronological order specifying education and employment in months and years including part-time and full-time employment.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of the Judicature Act and Rules of Court,
  • Practical experience or knowledge of the practice and procedures in the courts,
  • Experience with change management,
  • Experience with process improvement,
  • Experience with project management,
  • And a strong working knowledge of the judicial system.

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

Wage
$3,480 to $4,211 biweekly, Pay band 7
