The Opportunity:

The Disability Specialist assists with the administration and analysis of the disability management and benefits functions. Reporting to the Pension and Benefits leader, this role has the opportunity to proactively define processes that simplify, align and drive consistency across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Disability Management

  • Responsible for administering the internal disability management (STD, LTD, workplace accommodations) process dealing directly with our external providers, Talent Consultants/HR Directors and employees.
  • Ongoing communication and data exchange with external disability carriers, and other vendors ensuring accurate and timely transfer of employee data
  • Manage employees on short- and long-term disability and coordinating return to work plans; liaise with third party providers, Payroll, Talent team and employees on leave
  • Liaise with third party providers, employee and Talent on workplace accommodations and ergonomic assessments
  • Manage partner STD; this will include the relationship with the vendor, Talent Directors and Partnership Operations leader, as well as assisting in the process for partners transitioning from STD to LTD
  • Act as main point of contact for employee and provider for workplace injuries (worker's compensation) to obtain and file necessary information per claim
  • Thorough understanding of disability processes and how systems integrate to have full picture of downstream impacts
  • Disability process improvement; Identify process gaps and recommending more streamlined processes
  • Prepare and analyze reports as required relating to disability.
  • As one of the key Talent priorities at a Canadian, Americas and Global level, wellbeing will be embedded in everything we do - help identify and implement proactive wellbeing approaches to help prevent employees from going on disability leave, where possible

Benefits Administration

  • Assist the Pension and Benefits Supervising Associate and Benefits Coordinator with benefit administration and escalations from the Contact Centre via shared inbox.
  • Understanding of benefits processes and how systems integrate to have full picture of downstream impacts
  • Responsible for development and/or delivery of disability-related training for Contact Centre, WTEY, and ad hoc requests


Knowledge and Skills Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, Community College Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with disability management processes/systems
  • Very strong computer skills including Excel, PowerPoint and PeopleSoft/SuccessFactors
  • Good analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Bilingual (English/French) an asset
  • CHRP or other HR Designations an asset
