Located in southeastern New Brunswick, the Town of Champdoré is a local government created on January 1, 2023, as a result of local governance reform, bringing together the Village de Saint-Antoine, the local service district of Sainte-Marie, the local service district of Saint-Paul, the local service district of Grand Saint-Antoine, part of the LSD of Wellington (McKees Mills) and part of the LSD of Harcourt. This new bilingual municipality of 5,100 citizens offers a wide range of services, including management of the drinking water, sanitary and storm sewer systems, public safety services, public works services, solid waste management and sports, recreation, and cultural services.
Duration of employment Full-time position (2-year contract until March 2027)
Hours of work: 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday with the possibility of working occasional evenings and weekends to attend meetings)
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director of Administrative Services, the Development Officer plays a crucial role in community development. This role is essential in managing the Housing Accelerator Fund program and driving the development of residential projects within our community.
The job involves:
- Implementing and overseeing the Housing Accelerator Fund action plan, including reviewing incentive applications for compliance with policies and program;
- Collaborating with committees of council to develop policies, by-laws and initiatives related to residential development;
- Maintaining active communication with developers and organizations interested in developing affordable housing projects;
- Providing guidance to applicants navigating the rezoning process and assisting with the preparation of required documents and procedures, including by-laws, public hearings, etc.
- Working closely with consultants, the Kent Regional Service Commission and other stakeholders to facilitate access to resources;
- Monitoring the progress of residential development projects and maintaining accurate records and databases;
He or she will also perform any other tasks assigned by his or her supervisor.
Requirements: The applicant must hold a post-secondary diploma in a field related to land use planning, construction, development or a related field. Equivalent training and experience may be considered. Experience or training in residential development would be considered an asset.
The successful candidate must also possess the following skills:
- Solid understanding of municipal planning and development practices, including by-laws, legislation, regulations, and policies;
- Budget management experience;
- Oral and written communication skills in both official languages;
- Proficiency in using standard technological tools and computer software (Microsoft Office);
- Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, sketches, layouts, and specifications;
- Efficient planning, prioritization, and management of multiple tasks to meet deadlines;
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively with others;
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Compensation: $50,000 to $65,000 (depending on education and experience)
