Summary

The government of Ontario selected Bell Mobility to rebuild their Public Safety Radio Network. This is a large province wide system and under this project, Bell Mobility will:

  • Build the Radio Network — the network's core infrastructure — as well as support antennas, servers and data centre equipment, which together will provide essential public safety radio coverage across the province;
  • Provide first responders, as well as their dispatchers, with state-of-the-art radio equipment and consoles that enable quick and effective responses in emergency situations; and
  • Provide network and radio equipment maintenance services for a period of 10+years.

Within the Bell Mobility family, the Public Safety Engineering, Project Delivery, and Operations team is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to lead the overall project delivery for the ministry's detachment infrastructure. This position will offer the selected candidate the opportunity to take full accountability for the network build and network transition

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion project delivery, track progress against milestones, scope and budget. Work with the project members to proactively address issues, risks, etc. which may be impacting to schedule/milestones, budget, quality and scope. Escalate and report on these items in a standard format to key stakeholders
  • Use best practice risk management, assess risks in an informed and considered manner and to plan for the mitigation of these risks
  • Provide internal and external communication to ensure that all stakeholders are informed of project progress on all deliverables
  • Prepare consolidated project status update for external and internal governances
  • Follow the corporate requirements, standards and best practices to deliver each project to clients' satisfactions
  • Work collaboratively with cross BU partners and the customer to deliver the overall project timelines and project requirements.
  • Actively seek and implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost, cycle time and improve overall quality
Critical Qualifications
  • Understand the high-level technical architecture and able to facilitate debate and guide decisions on appropriate solutions to efficiently and effectively move projects forward
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all client stakeholders. Build positive and productive working relationships with customers, vendors and all internal teams
  • Authentic, professional and confident communicator able to service customers and influence internal projects teams and client stakeholders through effective communication and presentation skills
  • Be highly self-motivated with proactive & creative approach to problem solving
  • Experience in Operational readiness, technology deployment and quality management
  • Have a minimum of 10 years experience in project management and have a valid PMP certificate (preferred), with excellent project management skills in identifying/managing risks/issues
  • Have ability to work flexibly across a range of simultaneous initiatives and as part of a larger team
  • Able to manage competing priorities and adapt to change
  • Have outstanding track records on 'Put customer first'
  • Have excellent learning attitude and willingness to provide/accept constructive feedback
  • Passion for uncovering business needs, identifying opportunities, and aligning efforts to ensure timely implementation
