Kelly Cove Salmon Ltd., a division of Cooke Aquaculture Inc., a dynamic and growing east coast family company, with Platinum Member status in Canada's Best Managed Companies Program, is offering a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join the Company's team as a Hatchery Manager for our Penobsquis, NB Hatchery .

The Role:

As a leader, you must be able to exercise the necessary authority to assure policies and procedures are followed, and time frames are met. Excellent people management and communication skills are essential to building effective team and organizational relationships. This position reports to the Freshwater Director.

Primary duties of this role include but are not limited to :

  • Responsibility for the daily operations and production of eggs, fry, smolt at a Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) facility.
  • Meeting quality standards and timelines for fish production.
  • Foster a culture of safe work and environmental sustainability.
  • Lead and direct the team members, manage schedules and activities.
  • Submit payroll, invoices, fish inventory, environmental reports as required

Qualifications/Requirements/Attributes:

  • Experience within a hatchery environment.
  • Possess a strong background in general operation and maintenance of life support equipment.
  • Strong background in fish health and husbandry.
  • Computer skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work under pressure to meet timelines.
  • Organized
  • Preference will be given to applicants with related post-secondary education and experience.
  • Experience with incubation and early rearing would be considered an asset
