Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Nova Scotia Provincial Programs, the Team Leader of Clinical Services will oversee Formulary Services, Drug Prior Authorization, and Pharmacare Audit. This role involves leading and developing a diverse team of professionals, collaborating with clients, and working closely with other provincial programs and Medavie Blue Cross.

The Team Leader will ensure service delivery targets and objectives are met and business practices comply with policies and regulations. This role also involves contributing to the development and implementation of business solutions and pursuing ongoing process efficiency and service excellence.

The Team Leader will manage a team of 16 direct reports, including Pharmacy Consultants, Exception Status Drug Analysts, Auditors, Pricing Analysts, and Business Support and Admin Analysts.

Hours of work are 37.5 hours/week and individuals must be available to work between core business hours of 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. AST, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the team, focusing on staff growth, development, and cross-training.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews, provide feedback and coaching, and assist with action planning and career development.
  • Foster strong employee engagement through motivation, development, and relationship-building.
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure adherence to established processes and procedures.
  • Monitor team performance and productivity, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) are consistently met.
  • Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure high standards of service delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular reviews of processes to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices. Lead and manage the implementation of process improvements and changes within the team to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, analyze, and resolve operational issues, ensuring seamless integration of new solutions.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented changes, making adjustments as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers to understand their needs and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for customers, addressing their concerns and providing timely resolutions to issues.
  • Compile data and produce management reports as needed.
  • Serve as a backup to the Manager and other Team Leaders as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.

Required Qualifications

Education:

Post-secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent relevant experience and demonstrated competency.

Work Experience:

Three to five years of leadership experience

Three to five years of experience in customer relationship management

Experience in pharmacare or government program administration considered an asset

Computer Skills:

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word; basic knowledge of claims and eligibility systems would be an asset; knowledge of Medavie Blue Cross systems (POSv, PRN, CICS, ES) would be an asset.

  • Implements process improvements to achieve operating efficiencies and value for money.
