Cooke is a global seafood company with operations in North America, Europe, South America and Australia. Cooke is seeking an experienced Marine Operations Manager for their Atlantic Canadian and Maine operations who would be directly responsible for seawater farming, 100+ employees, and numerous marine sites.

This dynamic key new hire should be also be excellent people manager, technically savvy and a relationship builder. International candidates are welcome to apply.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leadership and direction of seawater salmon farming operations
  • Responsible for managing the annual operating budget, forecast, and communication of various business needs to support and service companies
  • Provide support to the harvest plan
  • Maintaining high-level leadership on environmental and regulatory affairs
  • Maintain and develop an ongoing operational plan
  • Supports corporate fish health strategy
  • Provide leadership and direction to the maintenance requirements of the operations
  • Oversight and responsibility for key biological performance indicators.
  • Providing industry leadership, as required
  • Ability to create solid operational and capex plans.
  • Leveraging the knowledge within other departments to address the needs of the operations

There is internal corporate structure and support in the areas of Human Capital, Feed Management, Nutrition, Health and Safety, Fish Health, Maintenance, Logistics, Net Washing and supply, Legal, and Finance, Public Relations, Communications and Finance.

Experience Needed and Skills:

  • 10+ years of fish farming experience
  • A deep understanding of the complexity of the fish farming business dynamics
  • Excellent people management skills
  • Interacting with government regulators, environmental monitoring, site infrastructure, and development processes
  • Basic understanding and commitment to the requirements of the various industry certification schemes
  • Creating a solid business plan
  • College degree preferred with a focus in Aquaculture or Fish Biology
  • Understanding of existing industry technology and new technologies
