Position Details
Context: The Community Partnerships and Homelessness Department provides research and analysis of best practices in social and transitional housing, homelessness prevention; and supports the development of the Provincial Housing & Homelessness Plan. The Department supports the CEO and the Minister Responsible for Housing through the development of position papers and briefing materials to support engagement and partnership across the housing continuum. The Department also provides oversight of the corporation's tenant and community relations program, eviction prevention framework, as well as the delivery of the provincial supportive living, emergency shelter, and transition house programs.
Duties: Reporting to the Director, Supportive Housing and Homelessness this position is responsible for supporting initiatives and non‐profit groups in the delivery of emergency, transitional and/or supportive housing through out theprovince. The Emergency Shelter Program consists of a toll free, 24/7/365 shelter line that conducts shelter diversion and where appropriate intake services for individuals experiencing homelessness. The Manager, Supportive Housing Services is responsible for the delivery or the emergency shelter program; provides direct supervision to program staff and is a management level liaison with non‐profit agencies, service providers, private operators, government departments and regional health zones to provide responsive and timely emergency shelter and development of innovation housing solutions. The position also acts as a liaison for community inquiries, as well as interagency, health zone, and departmental collaboration. The incumbent will review and analyze current best practices in the area of emergency and supportive housing, develop and recommend related policies, and assist in the preparation of Cabinet papers, budget submissions, requests for proposals, service agreements, and other documentation including briefing notes, data and progress reports and presentations to Executive and other internal and external stakeholders. Other related duties, including providing management support to the after‐hours function is required.
Criteria
Screening Criteria:
- Completion of a Bachelor degree in Business/Social Scienceor related field(Equivalencies may be considered)
- Supervisory experience
- Experience in the delivery of human and social services
- Experience with community and government homeless serving systems
Assessment Criteria:
- Knowledge of social/government programs and the process for accessing these programs
- Knowledge of best practices in the area of emergency shelter, transitional/supportive housing and shelter diversion
- Knowledge of complex service needs, harm reduction and trauma informed approaches
