JOB PURPOSE

The Clinical Specialist for Horizon's Emergency Department Module (EDM) is the bridge between technology and clinical care, supporting users of our clinical information system. This role requires in depth knowledge of the EDM clinical / documentation system as well as an understanding of content requirements and workflow processes for users (including physicians, nursing, clerical and therapeutics staff). Key areas of responsibility include training and education of clinical users (user orientation/training associated with system enhancements, upgrades, and modifications); day to day operational support; and monitoring and ongoing evaluation (clinically via electronic chart audits).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active registration with NANB
  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
  • Minimum of 5 years clinical nursing experience in Emergency nursing
  • Extensive experience with Meditech EDM application
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Microsoft office suite.
  • Well-developed presentation and instructional design skills with adult learners.
  • Ability to find innovative solutions using proven analytical, consultative and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard.
  • Experience with chart reviews an asset.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with a variety of health care providers, including nurses, physicians, managers, and staff from other disciplines.
  • Ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
  • Good work record.
  • Travel throughout the region will be required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Training delivery. This will include classroom-based user orientation / training associated with system enhancements, upgrades, and modifications. Training may also include web-based training.
  • Operational support for clinical users.
  • Monitoring and ongoing system evaluation including electronic chart audits.
  • Collaboration with Managers, Organizational Learning and others to schedule training.
  • Ongoing evaluation and updates to training materials.
