Global AML Alignment

Scotiabank's AML Technology team is responsible for running global services that provide the detection and investigation capabilities to meet our Global AML regulatory requirements in the different jurisdictions that Scotiabank operates in. We do this in partnership with the Global AML business to deliver core business capabilities to the enterprise. We work with the different technology teams as we provide an integrated solution both locally and with other global systems team. We support the Investigation Units that support the Global AML space as well.

Role & Accountability

  • Lead and manage a team of diverse technology professionals in overseeing the application and batch processing operations for AML technology systems.
  • Establish and maintain standard operating procedures, ensuring completeness, consistency, and adherence to Scotiabank policies and best practices across all operational activities.
  • Mobilize the team to address timely, production issues and incidents and adhere to SRO protocols for reportable incidents.
  • Maintain software and hardware currency in accordance with Bank policy; work with business stakeholders to ensure such matters are budgeted for and prioritized.
  • Work with partner technology teams to ensure application stacks are patched regularly per schedule and protected from security vulnerabilities.
  • Ensure adequate resourcing for applications, systems, and processes being supported; work with managed service providers for staffing needs.
  • Fulfill regulatory, audit, and IT Risk requests for information pertaining to system operation matters.
  • Liaise with project and development teams to keep abreast of and prepare for impacts to operations and application roadmaps.
  • Introduce additional efficiencies in operations through enhanced monitoring, detective and preventive tooling, and automation where applicable.
  • Liaise with product vendors for ongoing support and guidance where applicable.

Education / Experience / Other Information

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in technology operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading operational teams and delivery of reliable support.
  • Knowledge of multiple programming languages and technologies, such as Java, Python, .NET, JavaScript, and cloud-native development desirable.
  • Experience with operational monitoring tools and platforms
  • Proficiency or experience in data analytics and visualization tools, such as SQL, Python, R, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and inspire teams to achieve their full potential.
  • Highly analytical with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Experience with cloud-based technology (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
  • Certification or experience in software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum Master) is desirable.
  • Experience in the Financial Services industry an asset.

Working Conditions: Hybrid

  • As AML Technology applications and processes run 24/7/365, the Senior Manager Operations is expected to regularly be available off hours (evenings, weekends, holidays) in the event of any production operation disruptions.
  • Regular office setting accommodations are provided in a number of different Scotiabank locations with 24/7 access.
