Location: Any NBCC campus location

Salary Range: $56,758 to $79,378 per annum

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Budget and Reporting, the Budget Analyst will assist in the development, planning and coordinating of budgets and the ongoing monitoring of financial results. As well, at this level, the incumbent will focus on process improvements and mentoring others in budget preparation, analysis, and review.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Gathering, analyzing, and communicating budget information through the use of enterprise financial data systems and software applications (including MS Excel, Access and others)
  • Fostering relationships in order to support programs or processes
  • Assisting with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting functions
  • Ad-hoc research and variance analysis on program revenues and expenses
  • Help identify and propose process improvements that promote operational efficiencies in the unit and across the College
  • Other related duties as required
Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • A diploma with a focus in accounting or a degree in an accounting related discipline with recent and related work experience.
  • Enrolment in, or completion of, a Chartered Professional Accountant designation will be considered an asset.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and/or Access.
  • Ability to analyze and manipulate data in Excel using advanced functions such as VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated relationship building, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong teamwork and results orientation with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, analytical ability, and innovative thinking.
  • Self-motivated, service and results oriented.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have experience working in a post-secondary environment.
