The Mi'kmaq-Wolastoqey Centre MWC)at UNB (Fredericton Campus) is located on traditional territory of Wolastoqiyik. MWC provides a learning environment for Indigenous students to develop a strong cultural foundation as well as academic and professional skills. It offers opportunities for all UNB students and faculty to become familiar with Mi'kmaq and Wolastoqey histories, cultures, contributions and treaty tights through principles of respect, sharing, harmony, acceptance and unity in diversity.

Salary Range: $23.48 - $27.26 per hour
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to Nihkanatpat (Director) of MWC, the Secretary PL4 oversees the administrative and financial functions of the day-to-day operations of the Centre and its varied programs. The position is responsible for overseeing the unit's incoming funds, and expenditures and includes administrative functions associated with undergraduate academic programs, cultural activities, and other administrative duties as appropriate.
- Serve as the first point of contact for student, staff, faculty and community members.
- Manage program related inquiries from students, staff and stakeholders, and addressing and/or redirecting email and other communications as needed.
- Assess and summarize student admission requirements to coordinate and support the admission process
- Provide administrative support for community engagement with various First Nation partners, First Nation Communities and Tribal councils.
- Coordinate and support committees by scheduling, booking, and attending meetings and maintaining the Indigenous student data base
- Process financial transactions and oversee payments for tutors and instructors
- Monitor and track budgetary issues using appropriate systems.
- Prepare and Complete stipend contracts
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING
- An undergraduate qualification in Administration, Business Administration or Accounting related field.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in Administration role.
- Preference will be given to those with Indigenous ancestry.

- Knowledge of Wabanaki language systems, ceremonies, communities and traditions.

- Technical proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
