NL Health Services Eastern zone invites expressions of interest for one full-time equivalent Salaried Internist at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Burin, NL. The hospital provides services to a catchment area of approximately 18,000 people.
NL Health Services is the new Provincial Health Authority of Newfoundland and Labrador providing a full continuum of health and community services, including public health, long-term care, community services, hospital care and unique provincial programs and services across the province.
Job duties Specialist in Clinical Medicine Specific Skills include the following: Order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures, Diagnose and treat diseases and physiological or psychiatric disorders, Prescribe medication and treatment and refer patients for surgery
• Providing service to the Internal Medicine program within Eastern Health.
• Functioning within the scope of practice of a General Internist.
• Providing clinical services in General Internal Medicine within the scope of practice including consultations, follow up visits, ongoing care, and seeing outpatients in an ambulatory clinic setting.
• Providing treatments and therapies in which the incumbent had been adequately trained and supervised
• Participation in the hospital inpatient services is required including the intensive care unit.
Required Qualifications • Education is an asset
• To be considered candidates must hold a MD.
• Certification by the Royal College Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification (or equivalent) in Anesthesiology.
• All applicants must be eligible for licensure to practice by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of NL.
• Satisfy credentialing requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week plus on-call obligation
Remuneration:
Full Time - Salary and benefits for this full-time position are to be paid in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement.
*Salary and benefits for this position are to be paid in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement for salaried physicians in NL and commensurate with the level experience plus on-call billable to the Medical Care Plan (MCP)
Locum - $1335 per 24 hours as per the Memorandum of Agreement.
