Vice President (VP) - Business and Technology Services

The VP - Business and Technology Services is responsible for leading, directing and overseeing a transformation of services, processes and technology to meet the service expectations of internal and external clients.

You will lead and sustain a multi-year modernization through streamlining business functions, guiding project delivery, developing and implementing a data strategy, implementing digitization and automation while achieving organizational change through process improvements and modernized business operations. You will report to our Chief Executive Officer and serve as a member of the Executive team.

The VP provides leadership and is accountable for the administrative oversight of the Departments of Information Technology and Security and Business and Innovation Services, and an Executive Assistant, by setting direction and providing strategic oversight to the management of service teams within its portfolio.

Role Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective implementation of technology and modernization components, crucial to the organization's success and financial sustainability.
  • Oversee the development of data strategies that support transitions into quantitative and measurable targets and performance.
  • Adhere to strategies approved by the Board of Directors and its relevant committees to achieve corporate business goals, including information technology and security as well as project management and project governance.
  • Provide strategic vision and direction to the senior leadership team, management, Board of Directors and other stakeholders, relating to information technology issues, corporate objectives, policies and procedures, as well as data management.
  • Provide leadership to departments to ensure optimum utilization of technical resources.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to assess and prioritize corporate services that have organization-wide impact.
  • Promote and oversee strategic relationships between internal IT resources and external entities including the Provincial Government, vendors and partner organizations which include contract and service negotiations.
  • Provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing Information Technology (IT) and Information Management (IM) initiatives that support WorkplaceNL's business modernization approach.
  • Oversee all aspects of the organization's information technology and systems, including the security of WorkplaceNL's information systems and data.
  • Work in partnership with operations to achieve goals, key performance indicators and strategic objectives, such as balancing claims costs and duration.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • University Degree in business, public or health care administration, commerce, social sciences, science or similar disciplines - a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in a leadership role in a public or private organization providing services to diverse client groups and implementing change initiatives.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, organization and planning abilities are required.
  • Experience coordinating strategies and best practices that advance automation, information technology, security and analytics.
  • Demonstrated skills in planning, leaning operations to increase efficiencies and delivering services to multiple stakeholders.
  • Experienced with project planning especially as it relates to information technology and governance.
  • Ability to think strategically, analytically and use good judgement in providing oversight and solutions to corporate opportunities and challenges.
  • Ability to effectively direct operations and the delivery of services, toward the achievement of strategic organizational goals.
