Michelin North America (Canada) Inc., which employs over 3,600 people and operates three tire manufacturing facilities in Nova Scotia, is seeking an Electrical Reliability Engineer to join its Granton, Nova Scotia manufacturing team in Pictou County.
Mission
The role of Michelin's technical professionals is to improve reliability of process equipment, ensure implementation of maintenance strategy and practices, and provide technical support to the plant in the areas of maintenance and production. These objectives are achieved in a manner that respects safety, the environment, people, and ultimately Michelin's customers.
Responsibilities:
- complete reliability / process improvement projects through electrical design and installation;
- develop and implement equipment criticality studies and failure modes and effect analysis;
- investigate and develop solutions to automation optimization projects;
- support the reliability department with the review and update of electrical maintenance procedures and standards;
- investigate and identify improvement opportunities;
- implement and commission projects, obtaining cost estimates, equipment, materials and external resources;
- create and modify technical documents, design packages, procedures, and reports;
- provide technical assistance to production and maintenance groups to ensure continuity of operations;
- provide leadership in continuous improvement, efficiency, and root cause analysis; and,
- maintain relationships with the maintenance and operations department managers and staff to provide optimum services.
Requirements for this position include:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering;
- 1-3 years of experience working in an industrial/manufacturing role;
- strong skills in the use of the following technical tools: AutoCad, PLC programming, RS Logix 5000, RS View, Controllogics; and,
- previous 2DCad design experience.
Assets:
- experience using predictive tools and reliability principles;
- experience in custom industrial machine design, automation, installation, start-up and qualification, servo/control systems;
- experience in root cause analysis and troubleshooting;
- experience with drive technology; and,
- experience/understanding of CSA Standards.
The successful candidate will also demonstrate the following:
- strong communication skills with the ability to influence and resolve issues;
- both written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop positive relationships with internal plant customers;
- ability to set and achieve goals with minimum supervision; and,
- proven solid teamwork, interpersonal, leadership and planning skills.
