Salary: To be commensurate with qualifications and experience in the range of $57,315 - $67,429.

Acadia is seeking a Marketing and Communications Officer, Current Students to join the dynamic Marketing and Communications department. The Marketing and Communications Officer, Current Students, will be a pivotal member of the Marketing and Communications team, responsible for developing, executing, and overseeing social media content that engages and informs current students. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications, this role requires a strategic thinker with excellent leadership skills, an eye for compelling content, and the ability to collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders. This position will help elevate the student experience at Acadia University by creating and managing content that supports student recruitment, retention, and success.
Specific responsibilities will include:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive social media content strategy aligned with the University's Marketing goals, including day-to-day content creation.
- Independently generate content ideas.
- Lead a team of student content creators in idea generation and development of engaging content for various social media channels.
- Lead and generate content ideas with partners across campus.
- Produce social-first video assets and collaborate with Multimedia Content Producer on longer-form videos.
- Ensure content is tailored to different target audiences, including prospective and current students.
- Develop and implement an engaging and proactive community management strategy.
- Actively engage with social community, responding to comments and questions and building meaningful interactions.
- Develop and execute content plans for key on-campus current student events (e.g., Convocation, Orientation, etc.)
- Edit and proofread content for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to the brand voice.
- Maintain editorial standards and guidelines to ensure consistency and coherence across all content.
- Leveraging analytics tools, review and analyze content across social channels, providing regular reports and recommendations to the Marketing and Communications team.
- Stay informed on social media best practices and industry trends.
- Regularly collaborate and engage with other departments across campus (e.g., Student Services, Athletics, etc.) to gather information and stories that enhance the University's narrative.
- Completion of a recognized post-secondary program in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field is required.
- A creative, resourceful, and solutions-oriented self-starter possessing the ability to work independently in a high-profile, time-sensitive environment while balancing competing priorities.
- Proven experience in content creation and management, preferably in higher education or a similarly complex organization.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in developing and implementing social media campaigns specific to the appropriate platform, audience, style, and types of content.
- Strong project management, writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Experience creating, building, and maintaining internal and external working relationships.
