Service New Brunswick is seeking an individual to join the Health Application Services Branch supporting various Government Departments as a Senior Programmer Analyst in Fredericton.

What will you be doing?

As a member of the Provincal Health Applications team, you will be responsible for supporting application systems for a variety of systems and clients. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Providing day-to-day application development, maintenance and support functions
  • Providing technical expertise and mentoring in all aspects of application development, maintenance and support, including standards and processes for deliverables.
  • Ensuring application design/development, maintenance and support activities adhere to policies, standards, processes and procedures
  • Interacting with various stakeholders (Business Team, Application Support Team, DBAs, other SNB teams) to collect and understand client and technical requirements
  • Estimating effort and timelines for the implementation of proposed solutions
  • Working closely with Application Leads and Business Owners to effectively prioritize and schedule activities
  • Developing, documenting, testing, and implementing technical solutions in an operational environment and ensuring that solutions meet business requirements
  • Conducting preventative maintenance, which includes changes to the applications that would improve system performance or application usability
  • Collaborating with other teams within Technology Services to investigate and ensure implementation and support of effective system solutions
  • Planning technology upgrades to maintain a stable and secure operational environment
  • Providing support to Business Owners for user acceptance testing
  • Multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines

What do you need to be successful?

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: A university degree in Computer Science or related discipline and a minimum of five (5) years of related experience OR a college diploma in a related discipline and a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience. Subject to the response to this competition, an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered, or the required years of experience may be increased.

  • Must have experience with relational database systems, primarily SQL Server
  • Must have experience with maintaining and developing SQL Server databases, tables, views, queries, stored procedures, functions, scheduled jobs, triggers, packages, etc.
  • Must have experience with SSIS, specifically ETL development
  • Must have experience with SSRS

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate they have training or experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Experience with data warehousing
  • Experience with SSAS
  • Experience with Cloud products (e.g. Azure, Power BI);
  • Experience with management tools such as Active Directory Administrative Centre, Azure DevOps or TFS

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Some weekday evening and weekend work hours may be required on occasion.

Salary: $64,974 - $90,740 annually â?? Pay Band 5 - Management and Non-Union Pay Plan
