We are seeking an experienced Director of Reliability Engineering to lead our Capital Markets Reliability team. This strategic leadership role is responsible for driving the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of resilient, scalable, and secure systems supporting critical capital markets applications and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, leadership skills, and a proven track record in establishing reliability engineering practices in highly regulated financial environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the vision and strategy for site reliability engineering (SRE) across capital markets technology platforms, aligning with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Reliability Engineering: Oversee the design, automation, and optimization of fault-tolerant systems to ensure high availability, low latency, and operational excellence across capital markets trading and risk platforms.
  • Incident Management & Root Cause Analysis: Develop and enforce effective incident management frameworks, focusing on reducing Mean Time to Detect (MTTD) and Mean Time to Resolve (MTTR).
  • Operational Excellence: Establish/refine key reliability metrics (SLOs, SLIs, SLAs) and drive a culture of continuous improvement through data-driven insights and proactive issue detection.
  • Automation & Tooling: Lead automation initiatives for monitoring, alerting, and self-healing capabilities within trading platforms and critical capital markets applications.
  • Collaboration: Partner with engineering, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and product teams to integrate reliability engineering practices early in the software development lifecycle.
  • Risk Management: Ensure systems meet strict regulatory and compliance standards, including failover, disaster recovery, and data integrity measures.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as a key liaison with senior leadership, capital markets business stakeholders on system reliability strategies and outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in reliability engineering, site reliability engineering (SRE), or infrastructure management roles.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Well-rounded broad knowledge of OS platforms (Linux), Networking, Web Systems and IT Ops.
  • Experience with SRE practices including incident response, observability tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Prometheus, Splunk), and CI/CD pipelines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in programming/scripting languages (Python, Go, Bash, Java).
  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems architecture, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
  • Deep expertise in capital markets technology systems, including trading platforms, risk management systems, and settlement infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks affecting capital markets, including SOX, MiFID II, and Basel III.
  • Certifications such as Google SRE Professional Certificate, AWS Solutions Architect, or Kubernetes CKA.
  • Experience with real-time data streaming technologies like Kafka and market data feeds.
