Department Overview
The RESL (Real Estate Secured Lending) Credit Strategy Team is responsible for the development and execution of risk strategies and initiatives that will assist business partners to achieve growth and profitability targets while maintaining the overall risk quality of our lending portfolio. Accountabilities include enhancing adjudication strategies for mortgage/flexline loans, providing monitoring and oversight of the portfolio, and supporting policy changes.
Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Senior Credit Risk Analyst will develop, test, implement and monitor the Credit Risk strategy enhancements for the Real Estate Secured Lending (RESL) Portfolio and provide credit risk oversight on key RESL initiatives.
The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment and will be part of a learning culture where ongoing development is encouraged.
Specific accountabilities include:
- Participate in development, testing and verification of RESL Credit Adjudication Strategies
- Regularly monitor the performance of adjudication strategies, in terms of time-to-decision, decision rates relative to historical levels and internal expectations, and the portfolio delinquency performance that reflects the quality of credit decisions
- Represent Retail Risk Management (RRM) as a subject matter expert in the planning of RESL initiatives, including providing effective challenges as needed
- Collaborate with all stakeholders including RESL Product, Governance & Control, Other Risk Management, Risk Infrastructure and Reporting, Technology, Layer 6, and external vendors
- Provide insights and analysis that will identify origination and delinquency trends and inform revenue enhancement and loss mitigation decisions
Job Requirements
This role requires a combination of technical skills, project management, business knowledge and interpersonal skills:
Technical Skills:
- High Proficiency in Python, SQL, SAS (for data manipulation, analysis, basic modeling)
- Familiarity with Tableau, Angoss
- Prior experience in machine learning modeling (decision tree, xgboost) is a strong asset
- High Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Business Knowledge:
- 3-5 years of Credit Risk Management experience in a financial institution or similar
- Prior experience in automated adjudication strategy development is a strong asset
- Understanding of retail credit products, policies and processes; RESL experience is an asset
- Demonstrated analytical, reporting and problem solving skills
Interpersonal Skills:
- Strong ownership mentality and can do attitude
- Flexibility and resilience to execute in an agile environment, including the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
- Excellent relationship management skills
- Great attention to detail
- Strong presentation and communication (both verbal and written) skills
Education and Accreditation
- Post-secondary degree is required (preferably in a quantitative field: i.e. Math, Statistics, Data Analytics, Computer Science or similar).
- A Master's Degree is an asset.
