Job Description:
As part of TD Insurance, the Data, Analyses, and Insights (DAI) group supports internal business partners by providing valuable insights and analyses.
Within DAI, the Claims & VMO Insights team is a trusted partner to executive, operational, and actuarial stakeholders such as Claims Operations, Vendor Management Office, Corporate Actuarial, Pricing, Product, Finance, and others. The team combines talent from actuaries, business intelligence analysts, and data specialists to provide business-specific insights and consultative support to our partners helping guide decision-making and strategic planning. Relied on to investigate emerging frequency and severity trends as well as performance measures on claims related contract such as Body shops, car rentals, clinics, etc, the Claims Insights team generates broadly distributed reporting on internal and external factors, providing in-depth analyses and detailed insights to partners supporting planning, forecasting, and frequency & severity management.
The Senior Business Insights Analyst is a key member of the Claims Insights – Vendor Management Office team. You will leverage your analytical and programing experience to deliver insights and analysis on a host of projects and initiatives. You will explore and optimize external vendor utilized by claims operations. You will develop and present a deep understanding of results while working on multiple complex analyses.
Key accountabilities
Under the supervision of the Manager of Claims Insights – Vendor Management Office:
- Contribute on key initiatives related to claims severity and vendor management (body shop, car rentals, clinics, etc.).
- Collaborate on end-to-end analytics solutions over a range of complexity: from the initial demand; to the delivery of reporting, analysis, or visualization; to the presentation of results and recommendations.
- Be comfortable interacting and collaborating with business partners across the organization on a regular basis.
- Develop and improve analytic tools and methods to support insight generation.
- Leverage visualization to clearly communicate insights and illustrate key trends and concepts.
- Serve as an authority on claims results and trends, putting analytics discoveries in broader context.
- Develop a holistic view of claims and the ability to speak to both actuarial and operational aspects.
- Participate in the timely delivery of recurrent analysis on claims frequency and severity results. Be able to summarize the results and explain the variances.
- Perform deep-dive analyses on claims results and communicate the results effectively.
- Proactive in the identification of issues, trends and opportunities arising from analysis and insights.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or relevant discipline.
- Five (5) or more years of relevant work experience (Actuarial, Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Analysis, Statistics, General Insurance Claims, or related fields).
- Strong programming skills (SQL, Python, R).
- Possesses sound judgement, an analytical mind, and demonstrated decision making capabilities.
- Highly developed problem-solving and analysis skills with consistent rigor in quality of work.
- Able to conceptualize technical problems to develop clarity and a global vision.
- Effective communicator with skills to present, teach, and persuade.
- Works openly and transparently in collaboration with business partners.
- Creative in finding new solutions to complex problems.
- Effective in managing multiple priorities with strong organization and time management skills
- Effective in a team setting and contributes to team spirit.
- Quick learner and able to adapt to change.
- Proficient with PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel.
- General Insurance experience or expertise is an asset.
- Claims experience or expertise is an asset.
- Knowledge of TDI Data Warehouse an asset.
