CLAIMS ADJUDIDCATION OFFICER

The Department of Health is seeking an individual to join the Medicare & Physician Services Branch as a Claims Adjudication Officer on-site in their downtown Fredericton office.

As the Claims Adjudication Officer, you will:

  • Review claims and analyze information to apply assessment rules for claim payments;
  • Facilitate accounting functions related to submissions and reconciliations for payments;
  • Liaise with the public and the physician community;
  • Interpret acts, regulations and policies;
  • Process an extensive volume of data entry;
  • Prepare correspondence, and
  • Collaborate with other team members on claims.

All tasks must be performed with a high degree of accuracy. This work requires a high level of discretion in dealing with confidential information, knowledge of privacy legislation, knowledge of team dynamics, and good communication and interpersonal skills.

Essential Qualifications:

  • High school diploma supplemented by successful completion of a one (1) year post-secondary program diploma in business administration, office administration or a related field.
  • Coursework in Medical Terminology.
  • Five (5) years of related experience, to include experience in Microsoft Office.
  • OR a high school diploma, supplemented by coursework in Medical Terminology.
  • Six (6) years of related experience, to include experience in Microsoft Office.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Written and spoken competence in English and French is required, please state your language capability on your application.

A candidate who meets the essential qualifications, except for coursework in Medical Terminology, may be considered if they demonstrate on their application that they are enrolled in or are willing to enroll in an online Medical Terminology Certificate. Successful completion must be achieved.

Salary: $1,816 to $2,205 bi-weekly (ASL 4)
