In this role, you will :

Responsibility 1: Facilitate Workshops

  • Collaborate with the Training Coordinator to manage all aspects of training, including preparation, logistics, participant engagement, and evaluations.
  • Facilitate workshops and interactive sessions at schools, communities, or youth centers, ensuring necessary adaptations for cultural relevance and accessibility.
  • Tailor and deliver workshop content to meet the diverse needs of participants across various sectors, including schools, ensuring the content is adaptable for different learning styles and accommodations.
  • Create and maintain a dynamic, safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment, incorporating interactive activities, multimedia, and hands-on or land-based experiences.
  • Facilitate group discussions, address participant questions, and monitor engagement, adapting the content and delivery style as needed.
  • Gather feedback from participants and stakeholders to refine programming, ensuring continuous improvement and addressing concerns promptly.
  • Submit training reports, distribute participant evaluations or surveys, and highlight any additional prevention education needs identified by students and staff.

Responsibility 2: Program Support

  • Participate in train-the-trainer sessions, ongoing professional development, and CRC meetings, collaborating with other trainers and offering mentorship when needed.
  • Assist in developing training curriculum, editing and contributing to guidebooks, PowerPoints, activities, and other educational resources.
  • Identify areas for improvement in content, delivery, and coordination to enhance workshop effectiveness and ensure high-quality course delivery.
  • Provide and seek feedback to contribute to curriculum development and resource creation within the scope of practice and area of specialty.
  • Assess participant learning needs and develop tailored educational opportunities that are relevant and impactful.
  • Stay updated on relevant knowledge through workshops, conferences, and educational projects.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.

What we are looking for :

  • Bachelor's degree in human services (e.g., social work, education, human justice, mental health) with 1-3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent education and experience. Demonstrated experience in facilitating workshops, training sessions, and educational programs.
  • Background in teaching, community development, psychosocial support, social work, or related fields is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of developing resilience to natural disasters and emergencies, along with knowledge of business continuity concepts and the operations of community organizations an asset.
  • Experience living or working in diverse cultural contexts an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required, French is an asset.
  • Strong verbal communication and facilitation skills for delivering workshops and training to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage safely and effectively with children, youth, adults, and organizations.
  • Proven relationship-building abilities to foster positive connections with school staff and students.
  • Cultural awareness and competence, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all participants.
  • Empathy and active listening to understand and address the needs and concerns of school staff and students.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional strategies for engaging youth and adults.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in adjusting plans as needed.
  • Proficiency in technology platforms such as Teams and Zoom.
  • Commitment to promoting equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging, including respect for all cultural, gender, racial, ethnic, sexual orientation, disability, and socioeconomic groups.

Working Conditions :

  • The majority of work is conducted virtually, with occasional on-site community training in various settings. A home-based workspace and access to high-speed internet are required.
  • Expected to deliver a minimum of 5 hours of training per month, typically over two days (e.g., two half-day sessions).
  • Must be available for non-traditional hours (daytime, evenings, weekends).
  • Health and safety protocols will be communicated prior to deployment at response sites.
  • Must meet physical demands such as lifting up to 20 kg, standing or walking for extended periods, and working long hours in demanding environments.
  • Ongoing availability must be communicated through a pre-determined process.
