Trainer, Retail Automotive - Dealer Finance Centre
18-month contract position
The Trainer, Retail Automotive provides and develops training for Lending and Funding employees. Responsible for training development plan, material, tutorials, and updating guides. Contributes to the overall success of the Lending and Funding departments, ensuring specific individual goals, plans and initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- The Trainer is responsible for having a thorough understanding of the training content (requiring various levels of specialization) by:
- Being the subject matter expert adjudication and funding of indirect loans and leases;
- Ensuring quality, productivity in adjudication and verifications;
- Ensuring all team members are fully familiar with how to find and utilize policy and procedure documents;
- Ensuring all team members are trained on new program changes that get introduced throughout the year;
- Understand trends that appear in Quality Assurance Reviews and ensure items are addressed through repeated training; provides ongoing review/updating of comprehensive Training program for Credit
- Able to explain and guide new hires on Scotiabank's Human Resources policies and guides and me@scotiabank (internal employee resource homepage).
- Manage the implementation of learning performance initiatives by:
- Customizing training paths to account for the type of experience new hires have;
- Creating detailed plans with timelines for each program element and delivering monthly and quarterly dashboards based on identified KPIs;
- Lead team meetings, trainings and special projects; understand the skill gaps, and develop a plan to address gaps;
- Altering delivery style to match to the learning audience;
- Works with various stakeholders to evaluate the success of learning programs and may serve as an on-site performance coach through consulting, monitoring and evaluating training results;
- Reporting on course completion and evaluation results highlighting areas of opportunity and recommendations for improvement for identified programs and initiatives.
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge:
- Reviewing escalations from Quality Assurance Audit;
- Assisting with coaching of new and/or existing credit analysts;
- Ensuring customer loan applications and proof of income from Dealers are properly and accurately investigated, evaluated and documented;
- Champions a high-performance environment communicating vison/values/business strategy;
- Creates a culture of inclusion with the newly onboarded staff and is also a change Champion.
- Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

- Previous coaching and training experience in a professional environment
- Completion of a post-secondary education (college or university) and/or equivalent experience preferred
- Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, credit decisioning and loan application software
- Strong knowledge of credit, risk, policies, procedures and tools provided by the Bank
- Resourcefulness and collaborative
- Ability to pivot from one task to another in a timely matter
- Strong communication skills
- Deep knowledge of a Lean environment
- Ability to liaise with Team Leads and management in place
- Ability to have crucial conversations and recognize strengths and weaknesses

Working Conditions
- Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Limited travel may be required.
