Job Description:

The Associate Vice President (AVP), Audit, Financial Crimes, Remediation and Program Management is responsible for the program management of financial crimes and audit remediation efforts in Canada, Europe and Asia, working closely with our various Audit teams covering various aspects of the financial crimes program in the US. The role requires extensive experience on investigative and compliance skills as well as audit background to allow for assessment of outcomes and risks beyond the testing of controls.

Depth & Scope:

  • Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required.
  • Designs, plans, & executes the Audit Plan for TDBG Financial Crimes areas.
  • Responsible for the broader Division mandate to contribute to a strong control culture.
  • Develops a team focused on Canada, Europe and Asia Pacific-wide compliance, not just local needs and strong collaboration with the Audit Financial Crime teams covering the US.
  • Develops & maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Audit teams covering firs line, technology, model risk, etc that impact the TDBG financial crimes programs,
  • Staffs the function with appropriately skilled individuals and augment with SMEs where necessary.
  • Attracts, develops and retains key talent, making audit a great place to work.
  • Develops a risk-based Audit Plan & deliver the plan evenly over the course of the year.
  • Ensures quality of work meets division standards.
  • Identifies all significant control gaps in areas we audit.
  • Provides clear, comprehensive and timely reporting on significant control matters.
  • Manages financial budget within plan and risk.

This role is responsible for leading and overseeing a dedicated Audit Financial Crimes team that is responsible for:

Remediation Office:

  • Provide input and provide solutions to all MRA concern deliverables.
  • Provide input and provide solutions to all PTS/RTS concern deliverables.
  • Perform remediation of all MRA and PTS/RTS deliverables.
  • Memorialize work performed and assembly and retention of supporting artifacts and approvals.
  • Coordinate with Project Management office on all central MRA program requirements such as plan documentation and PMO related artifacts.
  • Track and maintain status details for each deliverable.
  • Prepare bi-weekly status reports.

Program Management Office:

  • Oversee and coordinate ongoing capacity and demand analysis for the FC Audit team for all activities, including team schedule, audits, findings validations, remediation, and other audit activities.
  • Evaluate team resource needs for both FTE and contingent support.
  • Work with HR partners to coordinate recruitment efforts for the team.
  • Assist with onboarding of new hires.
  • Oversee financials for FC Audit team, monitor cost spend, financial forecast analysis.
  • Assist with Vendor management activities:
  • Oversee execution of Statements of Work and delivery of the work associated with each SOW.
  • Onboard and manage all contingent workers associated with SOWs (allocations, training, time reporting, access control, feedback, and escalations).
  • Invoice / financials management.
  • Support change management activities, including training and communications in alignment with business strategy.
  • Assist with preparation of updates for the board.
  • Facilitate team activities, including Monthly All Hands calls.
  • Other ad hoc requests as needed.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years progressively responsible experience in public accounting and/or internal auditing management experience is required.
  • Expert knowledge of auditing principles and practices as well as applicable legal and regulatory statutes
  • Strong ability to delegate authority and establish policies that ensure oversight of delegated authority.
  • Ability to analyze business situations and effectively collaborates on overall corporate direction.
  • Strategic planning and process management experience
  • Senior management and leadership experience, with financial management background
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking ability and positive public presence.
