Requirements:
- High School and post-secondary education of a technical nature would be considered an asset.
- Two (2) years of relevant experience
- NB Class three (3) driver's license with E endorsement (air brakes).
- Demonstrated experience and competency in the operation of excavation equipment around municipal infrastructure would be considered an asset.
- Ability to work after hours, functon as an on-call employee, and work shift work if required.
- Ability to communicate in both official languages is considered an asset.
Join our team as a Permanent Labourer with our Water and Sewer Department in Fredericton!
Under the direction of the Construction and Maintenance Supervisor, Water and Sewer Division - Engineering and Operations Department, the incumbent will join a team that performs work on the City of Fredericton water and sewer systems, which can be physically strenuous in nature, and involves the use of hand tools and/or manually operated equipment. Assignments will require the operation of light vehicles. The incumbent may work under supervision and receive daily instruction.
What You'll Do:
- Inspecting and maintaining water mains, hydrants, and related appurtenances.
- Inspecting, maintaining, and cleaning sanitary sewers and related structures in the sanitary sewer collection system.
- Responding to emergency water and sewer system repairs, which can occur at any hour.
- Working in heavy and light water and sewer pipe laying projects.
- Performing related work as required.
What You Bring:
- Ability to follow instructions accurately as issued by a foreman or supervisor.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and the safety precautions necessary in the area of work assignments.
- Well developed interpersonal and communication skills are required.
- Demonstrated experience and competency in the operation of excavation equipment around municipal infrastructure would be considered an asset.
- Ability to work after hours, function as an on-call employee, and willingness to work shifts (including a regular night shift if required);
