Salary Range: $51,391 - $66,814 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Director of Teaching and Learning Services, the Instructional Technology Specialist is responsible for support and operation of systems and tools for online student engagement, including all training and administration services for the learning management system on the Fredericton campus. The specialist also works closely with instructional designers to identify useful emerging instructional technologies, to promote appropriate use of them, and to provide instructors with training.

  • Share administrator oversight and responsibility for the LMS working in partnership with other stakeholder to maintain, manage, configure, and support the system.
  • Work with third party vendors to integrate their products into the system.
  • Help develop policies and configure systems to meet the needs of UNB.
  • Design, develop, create and deliver clear and effective training materials and workshops that support basic functionality, promote new tools/features, and encourage the use of advanced features.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of course implementations as related to technology integration.
  • Investigate student claims and generate reports for academic integrity investigations.
  • Provide system administration expertise and technical problem solving as required, and daily troubleshooting for LMS and Microsoft 365 for faculty and staff.
  • Co-administer the UNB Poll Everywhere site license for UNB.
  • Stay informed about new educational technologies and promote the appropriate use of emerging technologies and train instructors for effective implementation.
  • Identify and create strategies and tools to help instructors engage students and assess student participation.
  • Research, test, and advise on the best use of Microsoft 365 tools to support instructor pedagogy as well as support staff, encouraging the use of tools that create efficiencies.
  • Routinely re-evaluate workflows and systems with an eye for improving efficiencies, workflows, cost savings and or security.
  • Other related duties as required.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • 2-3 years hands-on experience in course design, development and support, preferably in a post-secondary environment.
  • Experience in creating and providing training workshops.
  • Experience with D2L Brightspace or other learning management system.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 tools and website tools.
