FluxLab at St. Francis Xavier University is a leading centre for methane gas emissions research. Our work involves industrial sources and natural landscapes, and relevant regulation and economics. Our team of 25 students and professional researchers is multidisciplinary and diverse. Seeking: Research Coordinator (Full time, 24 months +) in person at FluxLab in Antigonish, NS

Job Summary: The Research Coordinator (RC) will provide administrative support across several research projects and themes. The RC will ensure that FluxLab's operations run smoothly, especially when involving collaboration between multiple people and/or stakeholders, and that documentation and information is available to all parties to allow efficient project execution. The RC will provide administrative tasks necessary to maintain functional operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare funding applications and reports
  • Coordinate and manage projects to ensure efficient execution and closing
  • Identify and address operational challenges and bottlenecks
  • Regularly communicate and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage schedules, meetings, and travel arrangements
  • Procure goods and services, and oversee associated bookkeeping
  • Collate staff updates on a weekly basis and send team updates
  • Co-create and publish content for non-academic audiences

Requirements and Qualifications: Fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of this job requires strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, and attention to detail. Initiative and self-directed learning is vital to this position.

Applicants should hold a bachelor degree and have administrative experience. Familiarity with project management OR research procedures and policies in a university environment is necessary. A variety of software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and internet applications are required.

Working Conditions: Annual full-time salary starting at $57,000, based-on credentials and experience, plus comprehensive benefits. Position is for in person work and will begin as soon as possible. Further employment opportunities beyond this contract may be possible, depending on performance and availability of further funding.
